Miss P. Segal's Vortex of creativity a while ago

Description:
From 1984 to 2004 this wonderful decaying Edwardian mansion was home to many artist, musicians & creative endeavors. It was the Birthplace of the Marcel Proust support group, Cafe Proust & the official clubhouse of the San Francisco Cacophony Society. What would later become Burning man in the Black Rock Desert was spawned here as “Bad Day at Black Rock” a Cacophony Society zone trip. The early “SF Decom” (Burning man decompression parties) were held in this sprawling 2 story flat.

In 2004, an owner move in eviction forced an abrupt end to a creative and fruitful era.

“The Last Party at 1907 Golden Gate -- All these years, "Miss P." Segal
has hosted those wonderful soirees. But now it seems they come to an
end. "The inevitable has finally happened," she writes, "the new
landlord... has decided that he must move into our apartment, and
we're supposed to be vacating as of August 1. Of course we have to have
one last, great party at this old place, and it will be July 17,
starting at 10 PM"
