This must have been around 1998 or so. I'm driving north on the 110, and it's pretty late. This hatchback far in front of me is drifting left and right, just a little too much, and is driving pretty slow, so I'm coming up on them. Figure it's a drunk driver, and I start looking for an exit so I can just take surface streets home. Within a few seconds, the car swerves leftward into the median, and bang, hits the median at maybe 40 mph. It was sickening. I flew right past it within a second or so, because i was coming up on the car fast. In my rear view, I saw the engine compartment catch fire, and vanish into the darkness. I tried to find an offramp; it was kind of far, and I got off. I was going to go back, but talked myself out of it. What could I do? I didn't have a cel phone or anything. I still feel bad about doing that.
