Description:
The Croydon Arena aka the Legionnaires Arena, home to Croydon FC. Not a popular venue amongst many football fans due largely to its nature as an athletics stadium with a very wide running track. Nonetheless, a just-acceptable view can be had from halfway line straddling stand and the club a small bunch of loyal fans.
Tests revealed that the club did not have an outbreak of legionnaires disease in 2005 although The Legionnaires Arena name has a nice ring to it and thus stays.
Police were called to the ground on one occasion as someone found "a body" wrapped up in the club's car park. It proved to be a dead sheep!
Being only a stone's throw from Arena tramstop, the ground is very easy to get to by public transport.
