Some of Beuys's "7000 oaks" are planted in Wolfsanger-Hasenhecke, a 1200-year-old town that became part of Kassel in 1936.
On October 3, 1943, "Erntedanktag" ("Harvest-Thanksgiving-Day"), Allied bombs entirely destroyed the town.
