Description:
The story on Lucca is Corona del Mar residents, Cathy and Elliot Pavlos, wanted to share their love of food and cooking that is inspired by Cathy's grandmother's cooking and her favorite restaurants in Italy, France and Greece. Lucca serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner in an upscale yet casual setting with art-inspired decor. Lucca uses only fresh, quality ingredients, including local, seasonal produce and many organic products. They serve bread from La Brea and Buona Forchetta Bakeries, as well as Lavazza Coffee. The restaurant also has more than 30 wines by the glass.
The lunch menu has a selection of pasta, including Penne with Grilled Asparagus and Leeks, and Linguine with Shrimp Diavolo. Lucca's house specialties, include Ravioloni Aperti (a large, single open ravioli stuffed with grilled chicken and spinach in a pesto sauce with a light touch of bechamel, and dusted with Parmesano Reggiano), Lasagne Vegetale (Vegetarian Lasagna filled with Zucchini, Eggplant and Spinach, light fresh herbed ricotta filling and marinara sauce), and Lasagne Bolognese (the chef's family recipe; a traditional Meat Lasagna with a light bechamel sauce.)
Dinner is more European-bistro like, where they serve small plates (about half the portion you'd get in another restaurant) that you can share with others. The food is high-quality and simple. The salmon is wild, the tri-tip is certified Angus, most of the fruits and vegetables are organic and the scallops are from New England.
