I visited Germany on my trip to Europe with my father. We visited with my aunt and uncle who lived there. My uncle worked for the military, and we got to ride a troop train through East Germany to West Berlin. While visiting, I crossed the Check Point Charlie crossing and went into East Berlin. It was like a prison. The city was drab and there were no goods for Germans to buy - only Americans with Dollars could buy nice things there. And this was supposed to be communism's "show place." I touched the wall from the West German side. It was HUGE. Any system that enslaves it's people and makes whole countries its prisoners deserves to fall - and I'm glad it did. I will never forget that wall, nor will I ever forget to cherish my freedom as a result.
