Description:
At this spot one can look through a chain-link fence from a dusty parking lot in New Mexico to a crowded colonia in Juarez, Chihuahua, called Rancho Anapra, full of makeshift shacks and dirt streets. Every year for Day of the Dead, a cross-border mass happens. I attended the mass in 2004, on the Mexican side, but had never been to the U.S. side of this spot. Up on a nearby hill you can see Cristo Rey, a giant stone cross that marks the corner of Texas, New Mexico, and Chihuahua.
