In my first week of work at Xenergy around 1991 or so, there was a horrible ice storm in Burlington. The people who managed the office park failed to salt the roads despite there being a considerable hill southwest of this spot.

As I entered the office park, I immediately began sliding down the hill with zero control At the bottom of the hill I slammed into a light pole.

Only slightly dazed, I tried to get out of the car and found that the road was so slick I couldn't gain footing. I slipped and fell when I exited the car. An onlooker saw me crash, and then fall, and promptly ran away without so much as an "are you OK?"

I was able to start the car, even though the front was severely dented. Somehow, I got the car into a space in a parking lot. But when I carefully exited the car and closed the driver's door, the car immediately began sliding sideways across the parking lod down a gradual slope. It eventually came to a gentle rest against another car, and I had to physically push it back into its space.
