Artifical lake originally created as a reservoir designed to support the industrial aspirations of the Former Yugoslavia. Economic downturn left the lakes unused. Now being developed as a leisure spot just outside the urban mass of Celje. Pleasure boat rides occur every Sunday on old-style propellor-type showboats. Numerous family-style pubs about the place. Fishermans' and hunters huts. Riding school also located on the shores of the lake. Smartinsko Jezero stands for St. Martin's Reservoir, with the name St. Martin's coming from a nearby village called Smartno v Rozni dolini or St. Martin's of the Rose Valley.
