Blackwater was my very first kayaking experience. A department off-site "meeting" to learn more about the Chesapeake Bay. It's incredible to be in the midst of such quiet beauty. Saw my first bald eagles and cormorants. Interesting to find out fresh water levels are on the increase, which is beginning to affect the types of fish you find. The 720-acre restoration project should improve water quality for both the Maple Dam Branch and Little Blackwater River.
