運河博物館的建築在以前屬於海關，日治時期時商船都要由此入關，當時是很繁榮熱鬧的地方，國民政府接收台灣後成為財政部高雄關台南支關，在民國74年海關遷到新港區後，這個地方就荒廢了，近幾年重新整修後成為運河博物館。 The building was a maritime customs now have already reserved to become canal museum.
