Please join us on Saturday, March 10th for coffee, bagels and a presentation on life as a Safari Guide in Kenya, East Africa! Joining us from Kenya, Sammy Leseita was born in a village called Naserian, near Samburu Game Reserve in Northern Kenya. As a child, Sammy aspired to be a safari guide. At the age of four he managed typical children duties in his Samburu tribe as a herd’s boy, tending kids and lambs, and then graduated to tending goats, sheep and cattle at the age of ten.

When Sammy was about ten years of age, a manager from a neighboring camp in the Samburu Game Reserve approached the tribe to ask for permission to bring tourists into their community to learn about and experience the Samburu way of life. The villagers agreed and tourists began visiting Sammy and his village.

One frequent visitor to the village decided to sponsor Sammy to go to school. After completing his education in Kenya, Sammy started the career he always dreamed of as a safari guide. Sammy has since worked as a safari guide, providing clients with first-hand information on his tribe, giving lectures on both the Northern Kenyan ecosystems as well as the tribes living in these areas. His appreciation and knowledge of the local wildlife and ecosystems is extraordinary.

Sammy will be speaking about this journey to become a safari guide. The Heritage Hotels portfolio will also be presented, featuring permanent safari-style luxury tented camps in some of the most famous game parks in East Africa.
