Building Features

The Larry A. Shehadey Clock Tower

Fresno businessman Larry Shehadey donated $3 million to Save Mart Center - the largest gift an individual made to the building project. To honor this generous donation, Save Mart Center’s eight-story, 93-foot clock tower is named The Larry A. Shehadey Clock Tower and the lobby at the southeast entrance is named after Shehadey’s late wife, Elayne.

Shehadey is patriarch of Producers Dairy Foods, a well-known and respected Fresno-based business. The donation, however, came from Shehadey himself.

Bulldog Foundation Contributions to the Save Mart Center:

The Bulldog Foundation Community Room

The Bulldog Foundation, who for over 50 years has raised scholarship and recruiting funds for Fresno State athletics and projects like Save Mart Center, sustains a major presence in Save Mart Center’s Bulldog Foundation Community Room. This room currently displays the names of past presidents, current officers, lifetime honorees and annual top fundraisers. The Bulldog Foundation Community Room is used for show catering, premium seating holder dining and is also available for rent.

Bronze Bulldog

Bulldog fans can enjoy the biggest Bulldog around just by visiting Save Mart Center’s southeast Shehadey Lobby. Created by EMI, Inc., this massive bronze bulldog statue stands 10 feet high, is 7 feet wide, 9 feet long and tips the scales at 4,200 pounds.

Bulldog onlookers will see the following engraved on the plaque mounted to the statue’s stand:

“This is our mascot and he ain't no hound.

He’s an English bull and weighs lots of pounds.

He’s got two rows of teeth and a terrible frown.

Hey, nobody’s kicking our dog around!!!”

Nine time capsule boxes were placed in the base of this massive statue early in 2004. The items within the time capsules represent all aspects of Fresno State University, including the Bulldog Foundation, administration, alumni, students and athletics. The time capsule will be opened early in the year 2054.

Display Cases

The Bulldog Foundation is also responsible for the display cases located on the upper and main concourses of Save Mart Center. These cases exhibit equipment and other memorabilia of each current Bulldog sport. Additionally, the display case in the northwest corner spotlights the academic success of Fresno State’s student athletes.

Bulldog Walkway

The Bulldog Walkway – a new, permanent, on-campus tribute to California State University, Fresno alumni, graduate and friends – was dedicated on the north side of Save Mart Center at Fresno State with the first three tiles honoring Col. Rick Husband, Lt. Cmdr. Otis Vincent Tolbert and Todd Beamer. Expected to eventually extend throughout the campus, the walkway will consist of personalized tiles and bricks that will leave a lasting impression to those who hold Fresno State near and dear to their hearts.

Proceeds from Bulldog Walkway will benefit the Fresno State Alumni Association’s student scholarship endowment fund. For details about purchasing personalized pavers on Bulldog Walkway, call (559) 278-ALUM [2586] or visit the Fresno State Alumni Association online at www.fresnostatealumni.com.

Bulldog Shop

The Bulldog Shop, located in the northeast lobby, sells Fresno State apparel and merchandise during Fresno State events. The store opens at 1 p.m. for 7 p.m. tip-off games and two hours prior to daytime-weekend games. The Bulldog Shop is also open during Falcons games but not concerts, family shows or on a daily ba
