Portland Comics Culture
NYC may be the comics capital of the world, but Portland is close behind it, with possibly the most comics professionals per capita of anywhere in the world (to judge by this site). It's the home of Dark Horse Comics, Oni Press and Mercury Studio, as well as artists and writers ranging from Brian Michael Bendis to Matt Wagner to Craig Thompson. It holds the annual Stumptown Comics Festival, and there's a gallery in downtown, Sequential Art, that's dedicated to comics art. This is a map of comics culture in Portland -- institutions that support it (like the Reed College Comics Reading Room and the Independent Publishing Resources Center), galleries and exhibitions that showcase it (like the gallery space in Floating World Comics), and anything else that goes above and beyond the stereotype of the comics world.
