I don't speak French, he didn't speak Spanish or English

I was hitchhiking from England to Spain. Straight off the ferry from Dover I realized something crucial: I don't speak French. Somehow, for some reason, the first person that picked me up took me to Lille. Beautiful highway signs in France. Yup.
Tags: lille, trucks, france, hitchhiking

Map this on Platial
Portland was an amazing place. I absolutely loved it there. The transit system is awesome to say the least, and the city is by far the most homeless friendly place I've seen.
Tags: portland, backpacking, traveling, hitchhiking

Map this on Platial

The truckdriver was on crack.

Hitchhiking to the bay area, I caught a ride with a fairly friendly driver out of Eugene, Oregon. He was fairly quiet the entire ride and only talked out of the side of his mouth. Come the wee hours, he refused to pull over and drop myself and my traveling partner off claiming that where he was going was, "Good Enough." Ripon, California (the part that I saw anyway) sucks. Slept in an abandoned fireworks shack and then in the morning got a ride with a professional Australian basketball player who took us to SF via Tracy.
(Tracy was where he showed us MC Hammer's house and we ate apricots.)
Tags: ripon, california, hitchhiking

Map this on Platial
