A Giant bathtub drain that controls overflow of this manmade lake. This lake covers what used to be a town and many family farms. There are concerns about the reliabiltiy of this drain's capacity. It sure is a crazy looking thing when it's in operation. This not photoshop.

Map this on Platial

Eucalyptus tree slowly rubbing itself to death.

On one of the most underutilized walkways/shortcuts at SFAI's amazing campus, you may find a Eucalytpus growing right up against the cold grey ledge. The gentle breeze sways the tree, rubbing itself against this utterly unyeilding concrete edge, resulting in a not insignificant, and perpetually increasing, (IMHO critical) incision. A must see for any nature vs culture buffs. It also emits a unique sound as this happens.

Map this on Platial
a converted oregonian newsbox claiming you'll be cursed if you bypass the (totally nonfunctioning) security system (broken lock) and look inside. contents may change, but i found a tri-met transit map among the rubbish, crunched up week old papers, milk carton, and dirty sock.

Map this on Platial

Helena Keeffe's Dial-A-Story Phone Booth

For Helena's contribution to the Cultural District she cataloged a number of libraries from around the country that had telephone numbers in which you could call and hear a librarian reading a short story. The phone booth had vinyl lettering informing guests to the phonebooth as to what these telephone numbers were, and the location of the library in question. Helena placed candles within the phone booth and handed out quarters to people walking through the neighborhood.

Map this on Platial
