Locals call Aspen Highlands their favorite, whether for its extreme terrain, groomed cruisers or breathtaking perspectives of the Maroon Bells. So, how does a 12,500-foot mountain top itself? If it's Aspen Highlands, it unveils Deep Temerity - acres of new advanced and expert terrain that opened for the 2005-2006 season along with the Deep Temerity triple chair, which rises 1,700 vertical feet in 7.3 minutes. New terrain will be added for the 2006-2007 season with a total buildout of 270 acres of new terrain in years to come!

Be sure to have a look at the <a href="http://aspensnowmass.com/onmountain/reports/locals.cfm?area=Aspen%20Highlands" target="_blank">Local's Lowdown</a> on the Snowmass website.

Aspen Mountain, a vertical smorgasbord of double-black and tree runs for skier and snowboarders, rises 3,267 feet from the heart of downtown Aspen. Opened in 1947, Aspen Mountain's steeps, bumps and incredible views have been famous for decades.

If you're determined to see celebrities here, check out the tree runs on Aspen Mountain. Look for mystic "shrines" made by locals in homage of Jimi Hendrix, Elvis Presley, John Denver, Marilyn Monroe, Jerry Garcia and others.

Be sure to read the <a href="http://www.aspensnowmass.com/onmountain/reports/locals.cfm?area=Aspen%20Mountain" target="_blank">Local's Lowdown</a> on the Aspen Snowmass site.

FACT: Named after "Crazy Train," the infamous song by Ozzy Osbourne, Buttermilk's Crazy Train Park rocks a superpipe, and an intermediate/advanced terrain park where the big hits are BIG.

Read the <a href="http://aspensnowmass.com/onmountain/reports/locals.cfm?area=Buttermilk" target="_blank">Local's Lowdown</a> on the Snowmass website starting late December.

Keep and eye out for the Northern Pygmy Owls!

The lift network at Snowmass promises to get you up the mountain almost as fast as you can come down!

Be sure to have a look at the <a href="http://aspensnowmass.com/onmountain/reports/locals.cfm?area=Snowmass" target="_blank">Local's Lowdown</a> on the Snowmass website.

FACT: Topping out at 12,510 feet, the Cirque lift was the first in the country to be operated solely by clean, renewable wind power.
